Hello, I’m Shereen and like you I love my chickens.  I started off caring for some ex-commercial chickens and my flock has continued to grow ever since. There are so many breeds I love, but I think my current favourite is the Orloff which I hope to breed soon.

I love learning about chickens and I’m constantly improving the care I can give them. My years of chicken keeping have given me lots of experience in spotting ailments and how to look after them. I am a long standing member of the Salisbury Poultry club and help out at different poultry shows.

Keeping chickens is always a real joy, so running a chicken hotel is a dream job as I get to meet so many chickens!

Cleaning practices

My chicken hotels are all Omlet Eglu coops and runs. I chose them for my guests because I know how easy they are to jet wash and thoroughly disinfect. Bio-security is a top priority for me when it comes to my own poultry, and I take just as much care over the safety of my guests.  The Eglu runs are made of a heavy gauge metal mesh which is fox proof. They also have a skirt which reaches out onto the ground to prevent burrowing predators. I use Dengie Freshbed for my guests, as I do with my own. It's smells lovely and has anti-microbial properties. My guest runs are always on fresh patches of mown grass and I move the run when the grass gets eaten down. I give my guests the same layers pellets I give my own, but if you would like me to feed your chickens their own familiar food I'd be happy to. I offer additional services which you can book. I offer a deworming service at £10 per flock, this involves using a special deworming medicine that is put into the drinking water each day for 5 days. I can also put a dust bath in the guest run which contains fresh sand and DE powder.
